Description

Sometimes you just want something crunchy, sweet, and a little bit cozy. This cinnamon maple protein popcorn checks all three boxes. Air-popped popcorn gets tossed with a light maple coating, warm cinnamon, and vanilla protein powder for a snack that feels like a treat without going completely overboard.

It’s quick enough to make when the afternoon snack attack strikes and portable enough to tuck into a container for work. A little sweet, a little salty, and wonderfully crisp, this is popcorn with a protein-packed twist.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Prepare the popcorn. Place the air-popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
  2. Make the maple mixture. In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, melted butter, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt.
  3. Coat the popcorn. Drizzle the maple mixture over the popcorn while gently tossing to distribute it as evenly as possible.
  4. Add the protein powder. Sprinkle the protein powder over the popcorn and toss again until the popcorn is lightly coated.
  5. Let it crisp. Spread the popcorn in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake at 300°F for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring once halfway through.
  6. Cool and serve. Let the popcorn cool completely before serving. It will become crispier as it cools.

Note

Midge's Tip:

Keep the maple coating light. Too much liquid can make your popcorn chewy instead of crisp, and we're after that delightful little crunch.
